Skill Sharpeners Math, Grade 4

Excellent way to supplement and keep up in these uncertain times.
With the last third of 3rd grade stopped because of Covid, I feel kids lost out on getting the full 3rd grade curriculum so I began supplementing with these workbooks in different 4th grade subjects. Yeah, I'm that Mom. What started out as a two week closure, turned out to be the last four months of the school year and now the fall looks very uncertain. Whatever happens I need to ensure that my child continues learning what they are supposed to be learning at this age. 2-3 pages of each book gets done in an hour and the rest is playtime. These books are a God-send and if anything, when/if school reopens in whichever format of live or virtual, at least my child will have a head start on what they need to learn which builds confidence in the future no matter how much they gripe about it now. 😁 If you have a real smarty pants on your hands, tear out the answer keys in the back and keep them hidden if you need them to check the work.

Math Rules!
The fourth grade is a time of skill strengthening in math facts, place value, number lines, double digit equations, and story problems. It's also the time when arrays, perimeter and area, geometry and graphing are introduced. This workbook uses puzzles and storytelling to drill numerical operations. For instance, instead of a straight forward set of multiplication problems, "Hidden Equations" hides computations in a word search-style format. "Break the Code", "Maze" and "Pathways" present routine problems whose solutions reveal riddles, jokes and secret messages. The pages are laid out in a clean, crisp way with easy-to-read directions and text with lots of color, but without the cartoon characters or other young graphics of earlier grade workbooks. The worksheets in Skill Sharpeners challenge your young scholar while also delivering number fun and adventure.

:) books
I bought and compared math books by Evan Moor, Flashkids and Carson Dellosa. This book is more of exercises than textbooks with explanations. Starts with Multiplication which is at par for 4th graders level. Comes with answer key.I would recommend this for medium level kids. Not advance nor struggling. Just right. Lessons needs to be taught though. Unless kids can work with less supervision.Math skills goes back to addition and subtraction reviews. Step by step instructions of how to's. So I'd say that the book is for struggling kids.Carson Dellosa is like Evan, more like exercises and test kind of pages. No explanations. It's for 'medium' level to at par kids in terms of learning.

Great remediation
Great for tutoring and remediation, but not a good resource for teaching new information.
